Great new stock!
Hey Oxfam Nottingham followers!
This week at the clothes shop we are launching our latest themed collection, and the new theme is: 'Mod' - so lots of parkas, polo shirts and general cool retro stuff! So get yourself down to the Hockley shop for a cool new look!!
Meanwhile, at the book shop on Market Street we have a wonderful selection of nearly-new coffee-table-style travel books - perfect as Christmas presents or a treat for yourself...
And, if you're one of the lucky people who got one of our loyalty cards in our recent promotion don't forget to bring them with you when you visit either of our stores, to start building up your stamps - you only need 3 stamps to get £3 off (when you spend £10). If you missed out on getting a loyalty card first time round, don't worry, we will be giving out more soon.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Where?
At the amazing Oxfam Clothing Boutique. 16-22 Goose Gate, Nottingham.
What time?

So, I've never written a blog before...
"Rachael spent a lot of the morning pricing the new items ready for the Americana/Western theme coming up next week. If you wanted to be a cowboy, then you could rustle up a dandy rootin' tootin' outfit. Haha! Lots of cowboy boots that look really great.
There was a really great donation today. A suitcase and a basketful of stuff! Going to have a good rummage in the suitcase - it's packed!
In the basket there was lots of beautiful Japanese/Chinese trinkets which sparked the idea for a Japanese theme...
Anthony says 'hi!' "

OXFAM EXCLUSIVE!
ARCTIC MONKEYS RELEASE NEW SINGLE THROUGH NOTTINGHAM OXFAM SHOPS
The Oxfam shops in Nottingham will be part of a music industry first, as Arctic Monkeys release their new single, ‘Crying Lightning’, through Oxfam’s network of 700 charity shops, with proceeds going to help the charity’s lifesaving work around the world.
The limited-edition 7”, which is the first single from new album Humbug, features a cover of the Nick Cave classic ‘Red Right Hand’ as a B-side, and goes on sale in the Goose Gate boutique and the Market Street Oxfam shop on Monday 17 August. The release marks the first time Oxfam shops have sold a new release single for 25 years.
The ‘Crying Lightning’ 7” will cost £2.99, and each single will come with a download code allowing fans to get an MP3 version of the songs for free.
More than 600 Oxfam shops, including the Market Street books and music shop, sell second-hand music – double the total number of independent record shops in the UK.
Domino and Arctic Monkeys are also calling on music fans from Nottingham to bring in any unwanted albums or singles to either the Market Street or Goose Gate shop when they pick up their copy of the single, to help Oxfam keep turning yesterday’s hits into vital funds for years to come.

Paul Régmacq- volunteer at Market Street
Hello everyone! This blog entry is courtesy of Paul from the Books and Music Shop.
"I'm eighteen and French. I've arrived in Nottingham without any idea of what Oxfam is and what a charity shop is. Searching some opportunities to do voluntary work I have known Oxfam. And I have found that the creator of Oxfam had a great idea because on one hand, Oxfam permits to help
poorest countries and the other hand Oxfam selling second-hand books permits to all people to buy cheap books. Finally, when you give your books to Oxfam you make more than one person happy!"

vfifty Volunteering Opportunities
If you’re new to volunteering, vfifty is a great place to start! It’s a really flexible award, which allows you to volunteer in a range of different projects, whilst working towards your first 50 hour volunteering goal.
Fifty hours might sound like a lot of time – but if you’re doing something that you’re passionate about, as well as building your skills and making a difference, it can go pretty fast!
vfifty is also really flexible and fits around your lifestyle – you can volunteer for 1 or 2 hours a week, or you can focus all your volunteering activities over 3 or 4 weekends - whatever suits you.
The great thing about vfifty is that as well as counting hours, you can also start thinking about the skills you’ve developed through your volunteering, and the positive changes you’re making in your community.
